Décaféiné à l'eau
Roasted Coffee
Décaféiné à l'eau is a certified-organic Arabica blend for cafés that want a decaf with nothing to apologize for. The caffeine is removed by the Water process – a chemical-free, water-based method – so the cup keeps the full, rounded flavour that satisfies regular-coffee drinkers, not just those avoiding caffeine. The blend ships as whole beans in 340 gretail bag, as well as 1 kg and 3 kg bulk bags. Micro-roasted in small batches in Montréal, it gives staff a clean, dependable decaf across the menu.
Tasting Notes
The cup is rich, smooth, and classic – a full-flavoured profile that reads as a quality coffee first and a decaf second, well suited to customers who choose decaf by preference. The profile described here is for our 60% Light Medium 40 % Medium Dark roast.
Origin
Décaféiné à l'eau is built on North American Arabica selected for a clean, balanced cup. The single-species base keeps the profile smooth, and that character carries through the water-decaffeination process intact.
Decaffeination
The Water process removes caffeine without chemical solvents. Green beans are soaked in mineral-rich glacier water, and the caffeine is drawn off through activated-charcoal filtration while the flavour-bearing water is recirculated to the next batch. The byproducts are natural and fully recyclable – an eco-responsible method café operators can communicate to sustainability-minded customers.
Roast
Décaféiné à l'eau is offered in three roast options. The Light Medium roast keeps the cup brighter and preserves more of the blend's clarity; the Medium Dark roast builds body for a fuller, rounder cup. The 60% Light Medium 40 % Medium Dark is designed to make the perfect drip coffee. Note that decaffeinated beans are more porous, so the exterior darkens faster than the interior during roasting – the beans can look darker than the cup actually drinks.
Brewing
As a general guideline, aim for a 1:16 ratio – roughly 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water for a balanced cup – though brew method matters. For drip and filter service, use 8.5 g of coffee per 236.56 ml (8 oz) of water, about 36 g per litre at batch scale. Filter and pour-over best showcase this coffee's balanced, smooth character.
