Whole beans for grinding fresh at home. Best flavour and flexibility for any brew method.

Colombia Excelso is a single-origin coffee from the Colombian massif, available in 1 kg and 3 kg bulk formats for sale by the cup or internal use. It is a filter coffee built for daily service, with a well-balanced, smooth cup and a clear sense of origin. Sourced from a cooperative of small family producers, it gives cafés and restaurants a dependable specialty-grade Colombian to feature. Roasted in small batches in Montréal, it pairs origin character with the consistency a wholesale program needs.

Tasting Notes

The cup is well-balanced and smooth, with natural notes of citrus and dark chocolate. Its even, approachable character makes it an easy single-origin to put on a pour-over menu and serve through daily filter service. The profile described here is for our TAG roast.

Origin

Colombia Excelso comes from a cooperative of 141 small producers in the Colombian massif, a region of major environmental importance. Most plots run to no more than three hectares and are worked by the growers' own families. The cooperative follows sustainable practices to protect the region's flora and fauna, which gives buyers a genuine small-producer sourcing story.

Roast

TAG (Torrefazione Artigianale Granito) is our suggested roast for single-origins. The TAG method drives the complete caramelization of the bean's natural sugars, drawing out the full depth of the coffee. The result is a rich, complex cup built on more than four decades of green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping expertise.

Brewing

As a general guideline, aim for a 1:16 ratio – roughly 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water for a balanced cup – though brew method matters. For drip and filter service, use 8.5 g of coffee per 236.56 ml (8 oz) of water, about 36 g per litre at batch scale. Filter and pour-over best showcase this coffee's balanced, smooth character.
