ARIEL Yerba Mate

Tasting Notes

The cup is a warm golden-amber with a herbaceous, mildly earthy character and a clean, slightly grassy finish. The lower brewing temperature – 70 to 80 °C – produces a smoother cup than black tea. The flavour is distinctive and well suited to a daytime menu slot where a caffeinated non-tea option adds variety.

About Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate is a plant native to the subtropical regions of South America, particularly Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It has a long cultural tradition as a social beverage prepared in a Calabash gourd with a filtered straw (Bombilla). For café service, it performs well as a straightforward loose leaf infusion.

Brewing

Steep 2.5 g per 200 ml at 70 to 80 °C for 3 to 5 minutes. Lower temperatures reduce bitterness; adjust steep time to taste. At 2.5 g per portion, a 1 kg bag yields approximately 400 portions.
