Tasting Notes

A pale yellow cup, with a soft floral aroma at the front. Jasmine leads – fresh and sweet, more like jasmine blossom than the heavier perfumed character of low-grade scented teas. The green tea base sits underneath: light-bodied, low astringency, with a clean finish. The pearls give a long second steep that holds its character.

Origin

Our base is whole leaf Chinese green tea, hand-rolled into tight pearls. The pearls are layered overnight with fresh jasmine blossoms, then re-layered – the leaves absorb the floral character directly. The flowers are removed before packaging, leaving the jasmine in the leaf rather than in visible petals. This method has been refined in Chinese tea production for centuries; it is the traditional approach to scented green tea, and produces a cleaner cup than oil-based or extract-based alternatives.

Brewing

Steep 2.5 g per 250 ml at 80 °C for 3 minutes. Temperature matters: pearls open slowly, and boiling water draws bitterness from the green tea base. At commercial scale, a 1 kg bag yields about 400 servings. Zero calories per 250 ml serving.
