ARIEL Earl Grey 1803

Black Tea

Size

A reliable Earl Grey is a fixture of any café tea program, and the 1803 is built for that role. Three formats – 24 compostable pyramid teabags, a 60-bag bulk pouch, and 100g of whole leaves – give operators a single SKU for front-of-house service, back-of-house brewing, and retail resale. The blend pairs whole-leaf black tea with a small proportion of white tea and finishes with pure bergamot oil from Italy rather than synthetic flavouring, producing a cleaner, more balanced cup than the standard Earl Grey category.

Tasting Notes

A bright, citrus-forward bergamot lifts a rounded black tea base. The white tea softens the tannic edge and the finish stays clean – no perfumed afterglow, no bitterness on the second steep. Holds up to milk for a London Fog without losing the bergamot.

Heritage

Earl Grey traces to the early nineteenth century and the household of Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl Grey. The 1803 designation honours that origin while the recipe leans on contemporary craft – whole leaves rather than fannings, pure cold-pressed bergamot oil from Calabria rather than artificial bergamot flavouring, and a small share of white tea for body and balance.

Brewing

2.5 g per 250 mL cup, water at 90 °C, steep 3 to 3 ½ minutes. The 60-bag bulk pouch yields 60 cups; the 100g loose-leaf tin yields approximately 40 cups at the same ratio. For commercial-scale batch brewing, scale linearly and pull at the lower end of the steep window to keep the bergamot bright.
