Java Mocha
Roasted Coffee
Java Mocha is an intense, spicy Arabica blend built on one of the oldest traditions in coffee – the pairing of Indonesian "java" beans with African "mocha" character. It is a strong, full-flavoured house coffee for cafés and restaurants that want a distinctive batch brew with real presence in the cup. The blend ships as whole beans in 340 g (12 oz) and 907 g (32 oz) retail bags, plus 1 kg and 3 kg bulk formats for higher-volume programs. Micro-roasted in small batches in Montréal, it gives staff a bold, consistent filter coffee through service.
Tasting Notes
The cup is intense and spicy, with a strong character and a nuanced, layered bouquet. It is well suited to customers who want a bold coffee with more complexity than a standard medium roast — a clean reference point for staff describing it on a menu. (Note: this is a Mocha-Java origin blend, not a chocolate-flavoured coffee.)
Origin
Java Mocha draws on Arabica from three regions — South America, Asia, and Africa — in the spirit of the classic Mocha-Java blend. The South American base gives balance, the Asian component adds body and depth, and the African beans bring the bright, aromatic edge that defines the style.
Roast
Java Mocha is a 50/50 blend of a light medium and a medium dark roast. The lighter portion keeps clarity and aromatic lift in the cup; the darker portion builds body and a fuller, rounder finish. Combining the two gives the blend both its intensity and its complexity.
Brewing
As a general guideline, aim for a 1:16 ratio – roughly 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water for a balanced cup – though brew method matters. For drip and filter service, use 8.5 g of coffee per 236.56 ml (8 oz) of water, about 36 g per litre at batch scale. For a double espresso, use 16–20 g to yield about 60 ml.
