Ethiopia Guji Hangadi Grade 2

Green Coffee

Size

Ethiopia Guji Hangadi Grade 2 is a washed-process Ethiopian coffee, sold in 20 kg bulk. The lot is sourced from the Shakiso district of Guji, in the Oromia regional state of southern Ethiopia. The lot follows a Sustainable Harvest sourcing approach, prioritizing farm-level economic stability and supply chain traceability. Grade 2 indicates a high-quality lot with minor defects, the second tier in Ethiopian washed coffee classification. The lot uses heirloom Arabica cultivars, mixed native landrace varieties from coffee's genetic origin in Ethiopia.

Cupping Profile

Floral and tea-like notes, with hints of rose and a creamy texture. The finish is long and lingering. These are pre-roast indications of cup potential, not finished-cup descriptors. The cup is distinct from Sidamo's typical citric brightness, leaning instead toward delicate aromatic complexity. Heirloom cultivars contribute the genetic diversity unique to Arabica's birthplace. The profile suits cafés interested in a refined Ethiopian filter offering, or a delicate single-origin espresso for technical menus.

Processing

This lot is fully washed under the standard Guji method. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness in the Shakiso district of Guji, then pulped, fermented, and washed before sun-drying. The Sustainable Harvest approach maintains lot traceability from individual farmer to export. The Guji altitude of 1,800 to 2,200 metres produces dense, slow-developing cherries that support cup clarity and aromatic complexity.
