Brazil Bela Vista is a single-origin specialty coffee built around an anaerobic fermentation that gives it a distinctive fruity, wine-like character. It is a filter coffee made for pour-over and batch-brew programs that want a standout single-origin to feature. The coffee ships in 1 kg and 3 kg bulk formats for sale by the cup or internal use. Roasted in small batches in Montréal, it gives cafés a coffee with a clear sense of origin and process.

Tasting Notes

The cup is uniquely fruity and wine-like, with natural notes of dried fruit and nuts and a heightened sweetness. Its intricate aromatics make it an easy single-origin to feature on a pour-over menu and describe with confidence. The profile described here is for our TAG roast.

Origin

Bela Vista is an estate in Brazil's Sul de Minas region, where a mild climate lets producers experiment across natural, washed, pulped natural, and anaerobic fermentation methods. For this coffee, the cherries dry slowly in sealed boxes that alternate hot and cold air on 12-hour cycles, dehydrating in contact with one another, which builds its fruity, wine-like character. Bela Vista is a respected producer with a coffee culture grounded in sustainable principles.

Roast

TAG (Torrefazione Artigianale Granito) is our suggested roast for single-origins. The TAG method drives the complete caramelization of the bean's natural sugars, drawing out the full depth of the coffee. The result is a rich, complex cup built on more than four decades of green-bean selection, roasting, and cupping expertise.

Brewing

As a general guideline, aim for a 1:16 ratio – roughly 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water for a balanced cup – though brew method matters. For drip and filter service, use 8.5 g of coffee per 236.56 ml (8 oz) of water, about 36 g per litre at batch scale. Filter and pour-over best showcase this coffee's fruity, aromatic character.
