ARIEL Earl Grey Rooibos
Herbal Tea
A caffeine-free Earl Grey alternative built on South African rooibos and pure bergamot oil, for menus that want the Earl Grey character without the black tea base. Available in 24-count compostable pyramid tea bags for service simplicity and in 1 kg loose leaf bulk for foodservice operations running by the cup. Pours a deep amber that reads as a traditional Earl Grey on the table; works hot, iced, or as a base for milk-tea preparations.
Tasting Notes
The cup pours a deep amber-red with the unmistakable bergamot lift on the nose. Citrus and a subtle floral spice lead, while the rooibos base carries a warm, naturally sweet honey note underneath. Blue cornflower petals contribute visual texture in the cup and the loose blend, but no flavour. Long, clean finish with no astringency – a softer mouthfeel than a traditional black-tea Earl Grey.
Blend
The base is a mix of red and green South African rooibos. Red rooibos brings the deep, sweet, earthy honey character that defines the cup; green rooibos – the same plant, unfermented – adds a lighter, more vegetal counterpoint and lifts the colour. Pure bergamot oil carries the Earl Grey character; blue cornflower petals are visual only. Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free and naturally rich in antioxidants, which makes this a credible all-day or evening menu position where a traditional Earl Grey would not be.
Brewing
Steep 2.5 g per 250 ml at 94 °C for 5 minutes. Rooibos tolerates a longer steep without turning bitter, which is operationally useful for service environments where steep timing isn't tightly controlled. At commercial scale, a 1 kg bag yields approximately 400 portions at 2.5 g per cup. Each 250 ml serving contains zero calories.
