ARIEL Lapsang Souchong

Black Tea

Size

ARIEL Lapsang Souchong is a whole leaf Chinese black tea defined by its distinctive pine-smoked character, available in a 1 kg bulk format. The leaves are dried near burning pine wood during processing, absorbing the signature smoky flavour. Kosher certified and well suited to specialty tea programmes.

Tasting Notes

The cup is a vivid red-orange with a pronounced, savoury smokiness and a full, rounded body beneath. The smoke character is assertive but not harsh, with a warm, slightly resinous depth and a long, clean finish. A niche but memorable option that performs well in a curated loose leaf offering.

Origin

Lapsang Souchong originates from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian province, China, where the pine-smoking technique was developed to accelerate drying. The process distinguishes it from all other black teas and produces a profile with no close equivalent in the category. It is well-recognised by name among tea enthusiasts and adds a strong point of differentiation to any loose leaf programme.

Brewing

Steep 2.5 g per 200 ml at 95 °C for 3 to 4 minutes. Longer steeping intensifies the smoke; adjust to preference. At 2.5 g per portion, a 1 kg bag yields approximately 400 portions.
