ARIEL Spicy Chai
Black Tea
Our whole leaf black tea blended with traditional chai spices and safflower petals. Available in 1 kg loose leaf bulk – a destination format for café programs serving chai lattes and for restaurants and hotels building a menu position around spiced black tea. The blend holds its character against steamed milk, a sweetener, or both – essential for any chai program operating at volume.
Tasting Notes
A deep amber red cup, with a warming spice aroma at the front. The black tea base leads: full-bodied, malty, with the structure to carry the spice and the milk that typically follows. Chai spices come through at the middle – warm, sweetly aromatic, layered. The finish is long and gently warming. Safflower petals add visual character to the leaf and the cup without altering the cup's profile.
Blend
Our base is whole leaf black tea, blended with a traditional chai spice mix and a natural flavour that supports the spice profile. Chai – from the Hindi word for tea – has its roots in the Indian subcontinent, where masala chai (literally "spiced tea") has been served as a daily beverage for centuries. The traditional preparation steeps black tea and warming spices in milk and sweetener over heat. The blend is built to recreate that profile in both modern café preparations and traditional stovetop service. Safflower petals are decorative – a signal of the visible craft of a leaf blend, rather than a powder or syrup.
Brewing
Steep 2.5 g per 250 ml at 95 °C for 3 minutes. Black tea is the most heat-tolerant of the true teas; boiling water works. For milk-based preparations – chai lattes, traditional stovetop masala chai – the same 2.5 g per cup holds up against steamed milk and sweetener. At commercial scale, a 1 kg bag yields about 400 servings. Zero calories per 250 ml serving brewed without additions.
