ARIEL Assam

Black Tea

Size

ARIEL Assam is a whole leaf black tea from the Brahmaputra Valley of northeastern India, available in a 1 kg bulk format. The whole leaf format delivers a full, malty cup consistent with quality single-origin Assam. Kosher certified and well suited to café and hospitality programmes.

Tasting Notes

The cup is a vivid, rich red-mahogany with a full body and a pronounced malty character. The profile is bold and round, with a natural sweetness and a long, clean finish that holds its character well with milk. A dependable cup well suited to breakfast and brunch service.

Origin

Assam tea grows in the Brahmaputra River Valley, the world's largest tea-producing region, where the warm, humid climate and seasonal flooding favour the assamica cultivar of Camellia sinensis. The assamica leaf produces more body and depth than highland cultivars, giving Assam its characteristically full, malty profile. Whole leaf Assam with golden tips is a core ingredient in English Breakfast blends and a strong standalone offering in a loose leaf programme.

Brewing

Steep 2.5 g per 200 ml at 95 °C for 3 minutes. Serve with or without milk; the full body holds up well to both. At 2.5 g per portion, a 1 kg bag yields approximately 400 portions.
