ariel-chinese-bancha-green-tea
ARIEL Chinese Bancha

ARIEL Chinese Bancha is a whole leaf Chinese green tea available in a 1 kg bulk format, Kosher certified. Harvested later in the season from larger, more mature leaves, it offers a lower-caffeine alternative to first-flush Chinese greens. Pan-fired in processing, which distinguishes it from the ARIEL Japanese Bancha.

Tasting Notes

The cup is a pale golden-green with a mild, grassy character and a gentle, slightly earthy note. The flavour is smooth and less astringent than higher-grade greens, with a clean, understated finish. The flat, elongated leaves are visually distinctive in a loose leaf display.

Origin

Our Chinese Bancha is produced from later-season harvests in the major green tea regions of China. Unlike Japanese Bancha, which is steamed to stop oxidation, Chinese Bancha is pan-fired, producing a brighter green leaf and a slightly different flavour profile. A lower-caffeine, accessible option that sits naturally alongside Chun Mee in a Chinese green tea programme.

Brewing

Steep 2.5 g per 200 ml at 70 to 85 °C for 3 to 4 minutes. Lower temperatures produce a lighter, sweeter cup. At 2.5 g per portion, a 1 kg bag yields approximately 400 portions.

Additional Information

Ingredient: Whole leaf green tea

Format: 1 kg bulk

Certifications: Kosher

Foundation: Humaniterra Foundation

Type: Green tea, chinese, pan-fired
